Seafaring Edam

On Sunday February 16, the Edams Museum opened a new permanent exhibition:
SEAFARING EDAM!
Situated on what was then the Zuiderzee, the city traditionally had a special bond with water and maritime shipping. Due to their long experience in maritime trade, Edam people were sought after sailors. They sailed in the merchant navy, on fishing ships, on whalers, on ships of the VOC and WIC and of the Admiralty of Amsterdam.
This exhibition, the sequel to ‘Edam in 14 steps’, tells the story of seafaring Edam and highlights a number of special aspects of it, with explanatory and spoken (QR) texts and objects.
