A wonderful donation!

At the end of July, Marian Quak, chair of the Edam Museum, received a beautiful donation from painter Frans Bianchi: his painting “Moored at the Nieuwe Haven.” This means the museum now owns two paintings by the Zeeland artist, which complement each other beautifully. To enhance this image, the museum is having the donation framed in the same way as the first painting, also a donation from Frans Bianchi.
Together, they form a wonderful reminder of last year’s successful retrospective exhibition, where Bianchi’s colorful works were paired with those of his great inspiration and friend, the American Jason Berger.
This summer, Bianchi was once again in our municipality as part of the art event “Artist in Residence Volendam 2025.” Bianchi and seven other artists spent a week painting en plein air in various locations in our municipality: Volendam, Edam, and De Breek, concluding with a wonderful exhibition in the café of Hotel Spaander. The Edam Museum looks back on last year’s exhibition with pleasure and pride and gratefully accepted the donation as a memento.
